Nasal Rinsing

Nasal rinsing is an age-old practice of washing out the nasal and sinus passages. Afrin PureSea is the modern, convenient method clinically proven to gently and effectively cleanse the nasal passages with all-natural, 100% purified sea water.

What Is Nasal Rinsing?

With every breath, you inhale different particles such as dust, allergens, germs, smoke, dander, and pollutants. The nose acts as nature’s air filter, protecting your body from these impurities. But this means many of these particles remain in the nasal and sinus passages, potentially causing irritation. Nasal rinsing helps you to rid your nasal and sinus passages of these impurities and to continue breathing freely.

Nasal irrigation — or nasal rinsing — is the holistic process of flushing the nasal cavity with a liquid solution. The solution, often salt water, is used to wash the nasal passages and cleanse them of impurities. During nasal rinsing, the water solution is inserted into the upper nostril while the head is tilted. Unlike many other methods, which rely solely on gravity, Afrin PureSea uses a continuous flow that you control to keep the sea water rinsing through the nasal and sinus passages. This allows for an even and consistent flow until it emerges from the lower nostril.

Nasal Rinsing Methods

There are a number of ways to nasal rinse. Some people use neti pots, but they can be cumbersome and time consuming. Neti pots often suggest that you buy distilled water and prepare your own saline solution. And, the entire neti pot needs to be cleaned after use.

Afrin PureSea comes ready-to-use in a convenient, portable bottle with an anti-backwash valve that maintains sterility even after use. Since Afrin PureSea uses a continuous flow that you control, it effectively rinses your nasal passages using a much smaller amount of water than a neti pot. It has an applicator designed to fit the nostril and comfortably deliver the isotonic solution. And, Afrin PureSea requires little cleanup — just rinse the applicator.

Some people use saline nasal sprays, but these aren’t necessarily nasal rinses. Most saline nasal sprays deliver solution into the nasal cavity, where it stays until it slowly drips out of your nose or down your throat. Saline nasal sprays may also contain preservatives.
